  • KURBNESH STARTED PRODUCTION IN THE LATE FIFTIES. A VERTICAL SHAFT WAS COMMISSIONED IN 1988. MINING JOURNAL RESEARCH SERVICES REPORT THAT THE KURBNESH MINE IS LOCATED NORTH OF TIRANA IN THE MIRDITA DISTRICT. THE KURBNESH OPERATION PRODUCES APPROXIMATELY 100,000 TONS OF ORE PER YEAR, WHICH IS PROCESSED IN ITS OWN PLANT WITH A CAPACITY OF 60,000 TONS PER YEAR. THE REMAINDER IS EITHER SHIPPED OUT AS ORE, OR PROCESSED IN OTHER NEARBY PLANTS. MINING JOURNAL RESEARCH SERVICES MENTION NOTHING ABOUT THE PERLAT OPERATION, NOR DOES IT MENTION ANYTHING ABOUT THE GRADE OF ORE PRODUCED.

  • THE CONCENTRATE GRADE FOR COPPER AVERAGES 10 PERCENT, AND RECOVERY RANGES BETWEEN 81 AND 82 PERCENT. ALL OF THE CONCENTRATE FROM THE MILL IS SENT TO THE SMELTER AT LAC. AN AMOUNT OF 22,000 METRIC TONS OF UNTREATED ORE IS SENT TO THE SMELTER AT RUBIK EVERY YEAR. PYRITE CONCENTRATE IS SENT TO LAC. CAPACITY OF THE MILL IS 120,000 METRIC TONS PER YEAR OF ORE. ALL PRODUCTION FIGURES ARE ESTIMATED.
