Comments on the production information

  • LAVINO SUPPOSEDLY PRODUCES THE LARGEST PERCENTAGE OF LUMP ORE OF ALL THE SOUTH AFRICAN OPERATIONS. PRODUCTION CONSISTS OF THREE BASIC TYPES IN 6 DIFFERENT SIZE RANGES. DATA IN THE "P" RECORDS REPRESENTS A COMBINATION OF ALL THREE VARIOUS PRODUCTS.

Comments on the reserve resource information

  • 1/89 INSITU DEMO.RESOURCE= FOR N.AND S.HILLS, 13 LEVELS EACH. RECOV.=90%. STEELPOORT SEAM, 1.3 M THICK, DIP 15-16 DEGS.
  • ACQUIRED BY ASSOCIATED ORE AND METALS IN 1989. MAY USE ORE AT THEIR MACHADODORP SMELTER OR COULD BE RELATED TO NEW S.AFRICAN CHEMICAL PLANT. LAVINO WAS MAJOR CHROMITE EXPORTER PREVIOUSLY FOR EVALUATION, ASSIGNED LAND POSITION WAS FOR BOTH THE GROOTBOOM 336 KT FARM AND FOR "ANNEX GROOTBOOM". NOTE-SAMANCOR SUPPOSEDLY DEVELOPED AN OPEN PIT CR MINE ON ANNEX GROOTBOOM. 400,000 MTPY ROM FOR: 125,000 MTPY LUMP,CHIPS,PEBBLES AND 210,000 MTPY CONCS. --ALL FOR EXPORT.
  • COL 1 REPRESENTS THE IN-SITU RESOURCE AND COL 2 IS THE RECOVERABLE RESOURCE. THE 75 PROBABILITY LEVEL REPRESENTS THE TONNAGE CONTAINED TO A VERTICAL DEPTH OF 400 METERS AND BASICALLY REPRESENTS ORE CONTAINED WITHIN THE CIRCULAR OUTCROP.

CAPACITY IS 20,000 MT ORE/M0NTH
General This is a plant. Most of the previous names are mine names. The data is confusing as there is a plant and mines and information is mixed. Old MAS record (7910200225), which said it was same as the old MRDS record was of a prospect. This area is mined for chromium, but the mines have different records.
