Comments on the geologic information

  • UNLIKE THE JHAMARKOTRA DEPOSIT, MATON IS ASSOCIATED WITH CHERTY, BRECCIATED QUARTZITE. THE DEPOSIT DIPS 55-80 DEG TO THE WEST OR NORTHWEST, AND IS A FRAGMENTED STROMATOLIC PHOSPHORITE WITH PHOSPHATIC NODULES AND PELLETS. THE GANGUE AND APATITE ARE TYPICALLY FOUND IN A CONCENTRIC STRUCTURE (PROBABLY OF ALGAL ORIGIN) WITH ALTERNATING LAYERS OF CHERTY MATERIAL.
