ICE DAMAGE DURING WINTER 74-75 TO THE DREDGE- WAS NOT OPERATING IN 1975 (CARNES 1975). RIVER BED, 150 FT. WIDE CONSISTS OF GRAVEL BARS, MOST OF WHICH ARE ABOVE WATER EXCEPT DURING FLOODS. A SECTION OF A BENCH ON THE L. SIDE ABOUT 6 MI. FROM THE COAST SHOWED 4-5 FT. OF MUCK & SANDABOVE 4 FT. OF PAY GRAVEL ON BEDROCK. GOLD HAS PENETRATED 4 FT. INTO LIMESTONE BEDROCK (B 328).
