Deposit 4 LODE CLAIMS STAKED 1920. ACTIVE 1920. STREAM CROSSES CONTACT ZONE BETWEEN TERTIARY QUARTZ PORPHYRY AND PALEOZOIC OR MESOZOIC CLASTIC ROCKS. BEDROCK CONSISTING OF INTERBEDDED GRAYWACKE, SILTSTONE, SHALE, ARGILLITE AND SOME TUFFS AND FLOWS OF EARLY CRETACEOUS AGE. THESE ROCKS ARE INTRUDDED BY SMALL DIKES AND SILLS AND BY A SMALL GRANITIC PLUTON WHICH UNDERLIES THE MOUNTAIN AT THE HEAD OF CANYON CREEK. THE PLUTON IS SURROUNDED BY HORNFELS. A SMALL GOLD-BEARING QUARTZ VEIN WAS FOUND IN THE HORNFELS ON THE RIGHT LIMIT NEAR THE HEAD OF THE CREEK. IT PINCHED OUT AT A DEPTH OF 10-12 FEET. (HOARE AND COBB)
