Deposit AS PART OF A PROPOSAL FOR A NEW EXCHANGE RATE FOR FOREIGN BAUXITE COMPANIES, BILLLITON AND SURALCO HAVE PLEDGED TO INVEST AN ESTIMATED $217 MILLION OVER THE NEXT FIVE YEARS IN SURINAM. BECAUSE OF THIS AGREEMENT, THE LELYDORP PROJECT IS LIKELY TO GO AHEAD ACCORDING TO BILLITON OFFICIALS. A FURTHER TWO TO THREE YEARS OF DEVELOPMENT WOULD BE REQUIRED.
