  • PRODUCTS ARE 99.5% AND 99.7% ALUMINUM AS INGOT, BILLET AND SLAB. IMPORTED INGOT FEED CASTHOUSE IN FORM OF CAST PRODUCTS AND LIQUID METAL.

  • 1989 PRODUCTION WAS 69,300 MT AL (SONDERBERG) A NEW SMELTER AND ANODE PLANT ARE BEING BUILT NEXT TO THE EXISTING PLANT AND WILL USE HYDRO-AL TECHNOLOGY. CAPACITY IS EXPECTED TO BE 105,000 MTPY, COMING ON-LINE IN 1994. AT THAT TIME THE OLD SMELTER WILL BE DISMANTLED. ZIAR SMELTER ALSO HAS CAPACITY OF 100,000 MTPY OF SEMI-FINISHED PRODUCTS CAPACITY EXPRESSED IN TERMS OF AL METAL.

EFFICIENCY IS 89-90%. PLANT CONSUMES 1.9234 MT AL2O3, 28.3 KG ALF2, 14.5 KG CRYOLITE, 548.6 KG ANODE MATERIALS; POTLIFE IS 1647 DAYS.

Deposit A NEW SMELTER IS BEING CONSTRUCTED AT EXISTING SITE, USING HYDRO ALUMINIUM TECHNOLOGY PREBAKED ANODES, AND 230 KA POTS. THE NEW PLANT CAPACITY IS 105,000 MTPY, AND IS SCHEDULED TO REPLACE THE EXISTING PLANT IN 1994. AS OF 1992, THE ZIAR-NAD HRONOM SMELTER IS PLANNED TO BE SOON RECONSTRUCTED IN A JOINT VENTURE WITH A FIRM FROM NORWAY.
