Deposit JIAJIKA LITHIUM DEPOSIT IS LOCATED IN KAONDING COUNTY, GANGZE TIBETIAN AUTONOMOUS DISTRICT, AND 275 KM WEST OF CHENGDU. THERE IS A MAIN ROAD FROM CHENGDU TO KAONDING, WHICH IS CONNECTED WITH A MINE ROAD OF 40 KM TO THE DEPOSIT. THE LITHIUM ORE BODIES HOST IN QUARTZ VEINS WHICH INTRUDE IN SERICITE-SLATE OF TRIASSIC PERIOD. THE PRINCIPAL INDUSTRIAL MINERALS ARE SPODUMENE AND BERYL, WHICH ARE ASSOCIATED WITH NB-TA-BEARING MINERALS. JIAJIKA IS THE BIGGEST LITHIUM DEPOSIT IN CHINA. IT IS ESTIMATED ITS RESERVE REACHES 0.92 MT OF LI2O WITH ORE GRADE OF LI2O 1.20% (FROM 0.84 TO 1.50%). ITS ORE RESERVE CONSTITUTES NEAR A HALF OF THE TOTAL RESERVE OF LI2O OF P.R. CHINA (NOT INCLUDING TAIWAN). THE DEPOSIT CONSISTS OF OVER 100 QUARTZ VEINS WITH DIFFERENT SIZES FROM TENS TO HUNDREDS OF METERS LONG AND 2-10 M IN THICKNESS. THE PRINCIPAL MINERALS ARE FORMED AS BIG GRAIN OF CRYSTALS WHICH ARE EASILY SEPARATED BY HAND. JIAJIKA CAN BE MINED BY OPEN PIT. IT HAS NOT BEEN MINED BECAUSE OF DIFFICULT TRANSPORTATION OF ORE.
