  • ALL WORK TO DATE (1985-MAY 1995) DONE BY THE ETHIOPIAN GOVT. GOLDEN STAR PLANS DIAMOND DRILLING. THE 90 LICENSES COMPRISE 1,800 SQ KM, AND THE AREA IS IN A HISTORIC MINING DISTRICT. THE EXPL AGREEMENT BETWEEN GOLDEN STAR AND THE TRANSITIONAL GOVT GIVES GOLDEN STAR AN EXCLUSIVE RIGHT TO EXPLORE FOR GOLD FOR THE NEXT THREE YEARS. GOLDEN STAR SILL SPENT US$2.1 MILLION IN THE FIRST YEAR AND US$7.3 MILLION THEREAFTER. THE ETHIOPIAN GEOLOGICAL WORK WAS DONE BY THE ETHIOPIAN INSTITUTE OF GEOLOGICAL SURVEYS.
