Comments on the reserve resource information

  • THIS IS THE ORIGINAL ERGO DUMP RETREATMENT OPERATION WHICH WAS ANALYZED FOR THE OLD 1983 AU STUDY. 1989 PROD.= 379,571 OZ AU FROM TREATING 37,466,360 MT TAILINGS. NOT UPDATED FOR THE 1992 AU AVAILABILITY STUDY (ONLY DID MAJOR UG OPERATING MINES). 1990 PROD.= 377,196 OZ AU FROM TREATING 38,374,000 MT TAILINGS.
  • RESOURCES CONSIST OF THE CONTENTS OF 24 TAILINGS DAMS TO WHICH ERGO EITHER OWNS OR HAS RIGHTS. THE RESOURCES SHOWN ARE DIVIDED INTO TWO GRADE CATEGORIES FOR THE PURPOSE OF ANALYSIS. MINING CONSISTS OF HYDRAULICKING THE TAILINGS INTO SUMPS FOR PUMPING TO A CENTRALIZED PLANT. IT IS PLANNED TO MINE THREE DAMS SIMULTANEOUSLY THROUGHOUT THE LIFE OF THE RE- SOURCE. BENEFICIATION INCLUDES FIRST FLOTATION FOLLOWED BY PRO- CESSES TO RECOVER THE COMMODITIES. URANIUM IS RECOVERED FIRST BY SULFURIC ACID LEACHING. THE RESIDUE FROM THIS LEACHING IS ROASTED TO PRODUCE SULFURIC ACID, AND THE CALCINE RESIDUE IS THEN TREATED BY CYANIDATION AND ZINC PRECIPITATION TO PRODUCE A GOLD/SILVER BULLION. BULLION IS SENT TO THE RAND REFINERY AND THE URANIUM (AMMONIUM DI- URANATE) AND SULFURIC ACID ARE SOLD FOB PLANT.
