  • THE MAIN TREATMENT PLANT IS A 6.4 MMTPA CIP PLANT, CONSISTING OF SIX LEACH TANKS AND SIX ABSORBTION TANKS. GOLD IS RECOVERED ON STEEL WOOL AND CALCINED TO RECOVER A AU-AG DORE. DORE IS SENT TO THE PERTH MINT FOR REFINING TO BULLION.
  • KALTAILS (KALGOORLIE TAILINGS RETREATMENT PROJECT) IS AN OPERATION THAT RECOVERS GOLD FROM TAILINGS THAT HAVE ACCUMULATED FROM OVER A CENTURY OF MINING OPERATIONS FROM THE GOLDEN MILE DISTRICT. CONSTRUCTION OF THE OPERATION BEGAN IN THE THIRD QUARTER OF 1988 AND THE FIRST GOLD POUR OCCURRED IN JUNE 1989. THE TAILINGS ARE RECOVERED USING HIGH PRESSURE WATER JETS OR HYDRAULICKING. SLURRIED TAILINGS FLOW INTO A TRENCH AND TRAVEL BY GRAVITY TO A PUMP STATION. AFTER THE REMOVAL OF OVERSIZE MATERIAL, THE SLURRY IS PUMPED 4.7 KM TO THE MAIN TREATMENT PLANT. AVERAGE GOLD RECOVERY IS 42.5% ACCORDING TO 1992 STATISTICS.
