BULL 940-J - COBALT INFORMATION RECORD 040/ DUE TO THE HIGH RELIEF OF THE AREA 6 MILES OF R 7 PERCENT GRADE MUST BE BUILT AND EQUIPMENT CAPABLE OF PUMPI LARGE AMOUNT OF WATER AGAINST A 2000 FOOT HEAD MUST BE INSTA MAXIMUM SURFACE AREA DISTURBED WAS DERIVED FROM A MAP OF THE CIPAL ORE-BEARING AREA (CROCKETTS BRANCH) AND THE ASSUMPTION AN AREA 6 MILES LONG AND 40 FEET WIDE WOULD BE INVOLVED IN B A ROAD. THE ENTIRE PROPERTY CONSISTS OF 4000 ACRES, 1/4 OF WHICH IS BLAND CO. AND THE REMAINDER IN GILES CO. APROXIMATELY 1/3 IS TED ON THE PRINCETON, W.VA., VA. 7.5 MIN. QUAD. AND ALL THE WITHIN THE JEFFERSON NATIONAL FOREST. RECORD 050/ THE PROPERTY WAS BOUGHT BY HARRISON AND 10 OTHER IN 1917 AND WAS PROSPECTED FROM 1928-1932. THE BUREAU OF MI PIERCE EXAMINED AND SAMPLED THE AREA IN 1942 AND 1943 RESPEC RECORD 070/ THE COBALT-BEARING MANGANESE MINERAL IS CRYPTOME A SPECIMEN OF ORE CONTAINED 0.46% CO (REC 702) AND 4 DUMP SA CONTAINED 6.6% MN & 1.1% FE, 20.1% MN & 2.6% FE, 18.3% MN & 9.7% MN & 5.8% FE RECORD 080/ MANGANESE OXIDES OCCUR AS CEMENT AND REPLACEMENT SANDSTONE AND AS NODULES IN THE RESIDUAL CLAY OF THE TONOLOW THE SANDSTONE DEPOSITS WERE PROBABLY DEPOSITED BY CIRCULATIN GROUND WATER AND THE WEATHERING OF THIS MATERIAL PRODUCED TH DUAL CONCENTRATIONS IN CLAY. MN CLAY EXTENDS 3 MILES ALONG CHESTNUT RIDGE TO PIDGEON BRAN ECONOMIC OCCURRENCES ARE FOUND ONLY AT PIDGEON BRANCH AND CR BRANCH CO. IS ADSORBED ON CRYPTOMELANE AND WAS DEPOSITED BY GROUND THE AVERAGE THICKNESS OF UNCON. MATERIAL AND OF THE MIN. ZON DERIVED FROM A DESCRIPTION OF THE TEST PITS (REC 700 ) AS WA DIP OF THE ORE ZONE. THE STRIKE WAS ESTIMATED FROM THE TREN TEST PITS ON THE MAP OF CROCKETTS BRANCH
