Comments on the reserve resource information

  • APPROXIMATELY 300000 MT/CONC OF TELLENES OUTPUT SENT TO TIO2 SMELTER FACILITY AT TYSSEDA L. DUE TO HIGH COSTS, THE FLOTATION SEQUENCE AT TELLENES IS BEING PHASED OUT AND REPLACED WITH HIGH INTENSITY MAGNETIC SEPARATORS AND REICHERT CONES/ ONLY FINES AND MIDDLINGS WILL BE MILLED USING FLOTATION

Deposit THE RUGGED TERRAIN OF THE TELLENES DEPOSIT HAS DICTATED THE LOCATIONS OF THE PLANT FACILITIES. THEREFORE, RATHER THAN IN ONE CENTRAL COMPLEX, THE STRUCTURES LIE AT VARYING DISTANCES FROM THE MINE PIT. THE FLOW OF ORE FROM THE MINE PIT IS AS FOLLOWS; THE ORE IS LOADED AND TRANSPORTED BY TRUCK TO THE PRIMARY CRUSHING PLANT; CRUSHED ORE IS TRANSPORTED BY UNDERGROUND CONVEYOR 336 METERES TO THE GRINDING PLANT. FROM THE GRINDING PLANT THE ORE IS CONVEYED TO THE FLOTATION FACILITIES WHICH ARE NEAR THE GRIND UNIT. THE CONCENTRATE IS THEN TRANSPORTED IN A GRAVITY INDUCED TUNNEL TO THE LEACHING AND DRYING PLANT. THE TAILS FROM THE FLOTATION PLANT ARE DROPPED THROUGH A VERTICLE PIPE. THE LEACHED AND DRIED CONCENTRATE IS STORED IN UNDERGROUND SILOS WHERE WHEN READY FOR LOADING, ARE TRANSPORTED BY PIPE DIRECTLY TO THE SHIPS. TITANIA A/S IS A WHOLLY OWNED SUBSIDIARY OF NL INDUSTRIES. IN 1973 EXPANSION WAS CONDUCTED INCREASING PRODUCTION TO 910,000 MT/YR FROM 300,000 MT/YR. IN THE WESTERN PART OF THE DEPOSIT, THE DIP IS ALMOST VERTICLALLY SEAWARD, IN THE EAST THE DIP IS TO THE SOUTHWEST AND THE STRIKE IS 131 DEGREES TRUE WITH THE VARIABLE DIP. THE ROCKS OF THE AREA HAVE BEEN EXPOSED TO HIGH GRADE METAMORPHISM IN THE KATAZONE OF THE SVECONORWEGIAN OROGEN. MINE RECOVERY IS 90 % WITH DILUTION OF 7.4% THE SULPHIDES ARE A MIXED CONCENTRATE SOLD MAINLY TO SCANDINAVIAN SMELTERS. MAGNETITE IS SOLD FOR COAL WASHING IN THE EUROPEAN MARKETS. THERE HAS BEEN (1980-1985) A SERIES OF CONTROVERSIES SURROUND ING DUMPING OF NON-TOXIC TAILINGS INTO FJORD AT TELLENES. AS OF 1985, CONTROVERSY HAS NOT BEEN SETTLED.
