Comments on other economic factors

  • SINCE SURIA AND CABANASAS, ANOTHER PROPERTY OF MINAS DE POTASAS DE SURIA (MPSSA), ARE ONLY ABOUT 10 KM APART ONE MILL LOCATED BETWEEN THE TWO MINES PROCESSES ORE FROM BOTH. BECAUSE THERE IS NO INFORMATION AVAILABLE ON THE AMOUNT OF FEED FROM CABANASAS, A CONCENTRATOR CAPACITY CANNOT BE DETERMINED.
  • THE PRODUCT IS FIRST TRANSPORTED TO MANRESA, THEN TO BARCELONA.

Deposit THERE ARE FOUR POTASH SEAMS IN THIS REGION. ONLY SEAMS A AND B, THE TWO DEEPEST ARE MINED BY MPSSA. SEAM A HAS A TOTAL THICKNESS OF ABOUT 4.5 M., AND IS COMPRISED OF TWO LAYERS OF SYLVINITE SEPARATED BY A THIN LAYER OF HALITE. SEAM B, 6 M. IN THICKNESS, HAS A THICK LAYER OF SYLVINITE BELOW A THIN LAYER OF SECONDARY CARNALLITE. ONLY THE SYLVINTE IS MINED. SEAM C, NOT MINED, HAS SEVERAL THIN LAYERS OF LAYERS OF CARNALLITE. SEAM D, ALSO NOT MINED, IS COMPOSED OF CARNALLITE AND IS ABOUT 15 M. THICK. THE MINES, SURIA AND CABANASAS,ARE LOCATED ON THE LIMBS OF ANTICLINES AND HAVE DIPS OF ABOUT 30 DEG. INITIAL DEVEL- OPMENT REQUIRED DRIVING HORIZONTAL ENTRIES FROM THE SHAFT, THROUGH HALITE, TO INTERSECT THE DIPPING ORE BEDS.
