Deposit 14 CLAIMS STAKED 1928. CONTINUOUS ACTIVITY THROUGH 1976. CHICHAGOFF MNG CO MINED 302 TONS ORE YIELDING $9000 IN AU & AG @ $35/TON IN 1936 FOR ALASKA CHICHAGOFF MINES. EARLIER PRODUCTION REPORTED, BUT NO RECORDS. WORKINGS: 495FT DRIFT & 142FT SHAFT; ALSO 60 & 100FT ADITS. COMPOSED OF AURIFEROUS QTZ VEIN IN SHEAR ZONE IN SITKA GRAYWACKE. UNDERGROUND WORK CEASED IN 1939; MINERALIZATION LOST DUE TO BRANCHING OF SHEAR ZONE.
