  • OWNER=HOMESTAKE MINING COMPANY: ADDRESS=650 CALIFORNIA ST. 9 SAN FRANCISCO,CALIFORNIA 94108 THE LOS OCHOS URANIUM DEPOSIT OCCURS IN A NORTHEASTERLY ING ZONE OF SHEARING AND FRACTURING AT THE CONTACT OF GRANIT SCHIST OF PRECAMBRIAN AGE WITH THE MORRISON FORMATION OF JUR AGE NEAR THE INTERSECTION WITH A LARGE EAST-TRENDING FAULT. INTERSECTIONS OF NORTHEAST-TRENDING SHEAR ZONES WITH EAST-TR FAULTS ARE THE MOST OBVIOUS ORE CONTROL. PITCHBLENDE WAS DEP UNDER EPITHERMAL CONDITIONS DURING TERTIARY TIME. THE SEQUEN EVENTS IN THE FORMATION OF THE DEPOSIT ARE:(1)THE MORRISON A DAKOTA FORM. WERE DEPOSITED ON PEGRANITE AND SCHIST DURING J TIME.(2)IN TERTIARY TIME INTENSE FAULTING OCCURRED. FAULTING CIATED THE MORRISON FM AND GRANITE ADJACENT TO IT PROVIDING SPACES FOR POST-FAULTING ORE BEARING SOLUTIONS. (3)POST-MINE TION MOVEMENT OCCURRED ON THE FAULTS OF THE LOS OCHOS MINE.
