Comments on the location information

  • PROPERTY COULD NOT BE LOCATED ON THE STRAWBERRY BUTTE 7.5 MIN TOPO SHEET (1995). THE MILS LAT/LONG CORRESPONDS TO THE UPPER HOLDER LAKE 7.5 MIN TOPO SHEET, NO PROPERTIES COULD BE FOUND ON THAT SHEET EITHER. THIS PROPERTY IS EITHER MISS-LOCATED OR COMPLETELY INCORRECT. SEE MAS SEQ 0300590052 FOR CORRECT(?) BLACK BUTTE PROPERTY FILE NO PROPERTIES COULD BE FOUND ON THE BLACK BUTTE 7.5 MIN TOPO EITHER. ALSO THE MILS LAT/LONG; TOPO SHEET OR COUNTY COULD ALSO BE INCORRECT.
  • County name is Meagher. However, original lat/long plots in Lewis and Clark county. Original coordinates were: lat/long NAD27 46-45-33N 111-57-32W (46.7592 -111.9589); UTM N5178629 E426770 Z12N; PLSS line# 1: Meridian- Montana Principal, TWNSHP 012 N, RNG 006 E, Sect 34, Sect_fract C. The PLSS coordinates translate to 46.759 -110.96, one degree east of the original lat/long, 2.5 km SE of Black Butte mountain, in Meagher county. The topo sheet shows numerous prospect symbols but no mine symbols in the vicinity. The reporter likely mistyped the longitude. So 1 degree was subtracted from the original longitude and the datum was changed to WGS84 to shift the location slightly closer to the prospect symbols.
