| Deposit | From Ching, 1973, p. 48: "The Deadwood sandstone contains a large percentage of feldspar which has weathered to kaolinite. This clay along with iron oxide coats most of the quartz grains. Washing and scrubbing could upgrade the sand." "The Deadwood sand could be utilized as an abrasive sand, building product sand, refractory sand, hydraulic fracturing sand and most miscellaneous uses." |
| Deposit | Note that Ching mentions how much iron oxide and feldspar there is, but still says it could be used for hydraulic fracturing (frac) sand. This statement is perhaps a bit optimistic. |
