OWNS 1000 ACRES IN THIS OF WHICH THE MIN. RIGHTS OF 445 ACRES AROUND DORSEY HANGER D BELONG TO CRIMORA MANG. CORP. RECORD 040/ THE DORSEY HANGER RESERVOIR IS ONE MILE NORTH OF AND THE SOUTH RIVER IS 2 MILES WEST OF IT. A R.E.A. 2300 VO POWER LINE IS 1.4 MILES NW OF THE MINE. MAXIMUM SURFACE AREA DISTURBED WAS ROUGHLY MEASURED FROM A M AREA MAP AS 1000 FT BY 1600 FT. (RECORD 700) REC 040 SOIL TEXT.-GRAVEL OVERBURDEN WITH SAND LOCALLY OVER CLAYEY WASH CONTAINING CHERT AND QTZITE FRAG. DEPOSIT AT WESTERN BORDER OF SHENANDOAH NATL PARK REC 050 METH 1&2- 1867-1882, 20,000 LN TNS MINED. METH 3&4 1893 (NOW CAVED), 131,722 LT, 6000 FT TUNNEL UNDER OLD DO MINE UNSUCCESSFUL ATTEMPT AT HYDRAULIC MINING. 1895-1916, 7, MILL ERECTED 1916. PRODUCTION DATA FOR CRIMORA & OLD DOMINIO OVER 185,000 LN TNS AVG 44% & 48% MN. RECORD 050/ DEPOSIT SAMPLED BY PIERCE (1943) AND BU MINES (1 RECORD 061/ SANDSTONE IS BRECCIATED. RECORD 070/ COBALT IS ADSORBED ON CRYPTOMELANE AND WAS DEPOS GROUND WATER. 2 ORE SAMPLES CONTAINED 0.53% AND 0.28% CO (RE REC 080 DEPOSIT IS SITUATED IN A SW PLUNGING SYNCLINAL TROU FLANKED BY ERWIN QTZITE AND FLOORED BY SHADY DOLO. RESIDUAL ALLUVIAL OVERBURDEN DEP OF GRAVEL AND SAND THINS E-W FROM 35 AND IS LOCALLY OVERLAIN BY A CLAYEY WASH CONTAINING CHERT AN FRAGS. ORE PRINCIPALLY IN CLAY AND 7 TYPES ARE RECOGNIZED PSILOMELANE IN LENSES. 2) CELLULAR PSIL. WITH PYROLUSITE. 3) PYRO. 4) SHALY ORE-WAD WITH PYRO. 5) HARD INTERGROWN QTZ, IR 6) BRECCIATED QTZITE CEMENTED ANDREPLACED BY PSIL. & PYRO. 7 IN BALLS AND FLAKES. TYPE 1&2 MOST PRODUCTIVE. MN CARBONA POSITED IN SHADY, THEN EXPOSED TO SURFACE WATERS THAT OXIDIZ REDEPOSITED ORE AS OXIDES DURING WEATHERING OF SHADY DOLO.
