Subject category Comment text
Deposit 1976 PRODUCTION WAS 2,234 MT. OF REFINED COPPER. 1977 PRODUCTION WAS 3,050 MT. OF REFINED COPPER. THE RAUL DEPOSIT LIES IN A BAND OF SEDIMENTS OF THE LOWER CRETACEOUS WHICH STRIKE N20-30 DEGREES WEST AND DIP 35 DEGREES TO THE SOUTHWEST. AT THE BASE, THE SEDIMENTS ARE QUARTZITE, BUT ABOVE THEY ARE A MIXTURE OF LIMESTONES SHALES AND SANDSTONES WITH BANDS OF SUBMARINE VOLCANICS. BEEN INTRUDED BY DACITE PORPHYRY DIKES AND SILLS AND LATER FAULTED, BOTH AT RIGHT ANGLES TO THE STRIKE AND IN AN EAST-WEST DIRECTION. THE CHALCOPYRITE MINERALIZATION PENETRATED VIA THESE FAULTS TO FORM VEINS AND ALSO REPLACED SOME OF THE LIMESTONES. THE RICHEST ORE IS FORMED BY THE FILLING IN OF INTERSTICES IN THE BRECCIAS AND PIPES, WHILE THERE IS ALSO A LARGE BODY OF DISSEMINATED COPPER IN THE TUFFS AND LAVA FLOWS.
