  • THE OZERNY FIELD, 24 KILOMETERS FROM THE NEAREST HIGHWAY AND 162 KILOMETERS FROM THE RAILROAD, WILL YIELD 268,000 METRIC TONS OF ZINC, 41,500 METRIC TONS OF LEAD CONCENTRATE, AND 1.5 MILLION METRIC TONS OF PYRITE CONCENTRATE EACH YEAR. RUSSIA, AS A RESULT OF THE BREAK UP OF THE SOVIET UNION, IS CURRENTLY SUFFERING FROM A SHORTAGE OF ZINC AND LEAD, WHICH THE COUNTRY USED TO IMPORT FROM KAZAKHSTAN.
