Comments on the reserve resource information

  • ORE RESERVES ARE SUFFICIENT FOR A FURTHER 14 YEARS OF PRODUCTION AND LEAD AND ZINC GRADES ARE EXPECTED TO RISE CONSIDERABLY BEFORE 1995. THE CUT-OFF GRADE IS 3 PERCENT ZINC EQUIVALENT. IN THE ZARCHENSKOYE ORE BODY, RESERVES EXTEND FROM 50 TO 250 METERS BELOW THE SURFACE. AT SREDNEYE, RESERVES ARE LOCATED BETWEEN 100 AND 665 METERS BELOW THE SURFACE.

Comments on other economic factors

  • THE MINE IS ACCESSED BY A NUMBER OF VERTICAL SHAFTS. THE ORE IS REMOVED BY SUB-LEVEL STOPING AND BY CUT-AND-FILL STOPING. IN 1991, MOST OF THE WORKINGS WERE ON II AND III LEVELS WHICH LIE APPROXIMATELY 150 METERS BELOW THE SURFACE. DILUTION IS 5.6 PERCENT. THE FLOW OF GROUNDWATER INTO THE SHAFT AT 200 CUBIC METERS PER HOUR AND INTO THE HORIZONTAL DEVELOPMENTS AT 150 CUBIC METERS PER HOUR IS PROBLEMATIC FROM A MINING POINT OF VIEW. SOVIET EQUIPMENT IS USED THROUGHOUT THE MINE.
  • ALL ORE IS DELIVERED BY ROAD TO THE ZOLOTUSHINSKAYA CONCENTRATOR, 70 KILOMETERS FROM THE MINE.
