  • THE AREA IS A DESERT AND ANY LARGE SCALE DISTURBANCE WOULD BE CONSIDERABLE. THE EMPLACEMENT OF A MAJOR MINE AND POP- ULATION CENTER OF 15,000 PEOPLE HAS CAUSED PROBLEMS. WATER, POWER AND SUPPLIES HAVE TO BE BROUGHT LONG DISTANCES, CAUSING FURTHER DISTURBANCES.
