Comments on the geologic information

  • THE PROSPECTIVE SOURCES OF POTASH ARE TWO SYLVANITE LAY- ERS SEPARATED BY A LAYER OF HALITE. THE SERGIPE SYLVANITE IS ABNORMALLY LOW IN BR.AND HIGH IN RB COMPARED WITH PRIMARY SYLVANITE AND IT IS THOUGHT TO HAVE BEEN DERIVED BY LEACHING FROM CARNALITE. IT IS UNCERTAIN THAT THE LOWER SYLVANITE BED WILL BE MINED DUE TO ITS PROXIMATY TO AN UNDERLYING LAYER OF TACHYHYDRITE, WHICH IS HIGHLY HYGROSCOPIC AND OF LOW MECH- ANICAL STRENGTH
