Comments on the production information

  • BECAUSE THE FEED GRADE IN 1982 IS LOWER THAN IN LATER YEARS, THE OUTPUT TONNAGE OF THE TWO PRODUCTS IS LOWER IN 1982 THAN IN LATER YEARS. PA AND PC ARE BOTH GRAPHITE A PRODUCT, AND PB AND PD ARE BOTH GRAPHITE B PRODUCT. THE GRAPHITE A PRODUCT IS A CRYSTALLINE FLAKE MATERIAL THAT IS ALMOST ENTIRELY +80 MESH IN SIZE AND IS ESTIMATED TO HAVE A CARBON CONTENT OF ABOUT 90 PERCENT. IT IS BELIEVED THAT LYNX PRODUCES A "CONCENTRATE" PRODUCT AND A "FLAKE POWDER" PRODUCT. FOR PURPOSES OF EVALUATION, THESE TWO PRODUCTS WERE COMBINED AS GRAPHITE B WHICH IS ESTIMATED TO HAVE A CARBON CONTENT OF ABOUT 90 PERCENT AND WHICH WOULD CONTAIN FLAKES VARYING IN SIZE FROM -140 MESH TO +40 MESH. THE AVERAGE FLAKE SIZE WOULD PROBABLY BE BETWEEN 80 AND 140 MESH. IT IS BELIEVED THAT THE "CONCENTRATE" WOULD MAKE UP ABOUT 90 PERCENT OF THE GRAPHITE B PRODUCT WITH "FLAKE POWDER" MAKING UP THE OTHER 10 PERCENT. GRAPHITE A ACCOUNTS FOR ABOUT 12 PERCENT OF TOTAL PRODUCTION, AND GRAPHITE B ACCOUNTS FOR THE REMAINING 88 PERCENT. IN 1982, 78 PERCENT OF SALES WERE MADE THROUGH GRAPHITWERK KROPFMUHL IN HAMBURG, W. GERMANY. REMAINING SALES WERE 3.4 PERCENT TO ZIMBABWE BUYERS, 11.7 PERCENT TO SO. AFRICA, AND 7.4 PERCENT TO THE U.S.
