  • SECTION HAS PRODUCED SINCE 1957. FOR ANALYSIS: 15,000 MTPY ROM FOR: 6,440 MTPY LUMP AT 46.5-49.0 % CR2O3 AND 6,300 MTPY CONC. AT 48.5 % CR2O3. ALL PRODUCTS TO KWE KWE SMELTER. GREAT DYKE RESOURCE. SEAMS 1,2,4 OUTCROP ON SECTION.
  • 75% PROB. LEVEL IS ESTIMATE OF TONNAGE CONTAINED IN 3 SEAMS (NOS.1,2, AND 5) OUTCROPPING ON THE SECTION, ASSUMING EXTENSIONS ON-DIP OF 300 M (ABOUT 125 M VERT. DEPTH). ESTIMATED THICKNESSES OF THE SEAMS ARE .23,.35, AND .12 M RESPECTIVELY. ESTIMATED STRIKE LENGTHS OVER THE SECTION ARE 8000 METERS FOR ALL THREE SEAMS. 50 PERCENT PROB. Deposit INFORMATION FROM 1981 INDICATES THAT THERE WAS PRODUC- TION FROM OPERATIONS IN THE MCGOWAN AREA. THIS ANALYSIS TREATS A SINGLE SECTION OF THE GREAT DYKE-THE "MCGOWAN SECTION"- AS ONE MINING UNIT. IN REALITY, MORE THAN ONE COMPANY MAY HOLD LEASES OVER THE SECTION DESCRIBED AND MORE THAN ONE COMPANY COULD BE PRODUCING SIMULTANEOUSLY FROM THE SECTION. TO ANALYZE THE GREAT DYKE FOR AVAILABILITY IT WAS NECESSARY TO ADDRESS THE SITUATION IN A LOGICAL, COMPART- MENTALIZED FORMAT. HENCE, THE "MCGOWAN SECTION" REFERS TO AN 8 KM SECTION COVERING THE EAST LIMB OF THE GREAT DYKE SYNCLINE FROM THE HUNYANI RIDER NORTHWARDS (IN THE VICINITY OF THE OLD RHOCHROME OPERATION.)
