Comments on the geologic information

  • ORE HAS BEEN PROVED OVER 4270 M. ON HELENA AND 610 M. ON RICHMOND. ORE IS FOUND IN THE MERENSKY REEF IN THE BUSHVELD IGNEOUS COMPLEX. THE ORE IS GENERALLY REGULAR AND UNDISTURBED EXCEPT FOR OCCASIONAL FAULTS,AND A NUMBER OF DIKES AND CRUSH ZONES. THE REEF IS A SHEET OF PSEUDO-PORPHYRITIC PYROXENITE DIALAGE NORITE FROM 2.4 TO 4.8 METERS THICK, OVERLAIN BY LIGHT COLORED SPOTTED NORITE AND UNDERLAIN BY SPOTTED ANORTHOSITE. A PERSISTENT 1 CM BAND OF CHROMITE OVERLIES THE ORE AND IS A USEFUL MARKER.
  • PLATINUM ORE MINERALS INCLUDE BRAGGITE, COOPERITE, LAURITE AND SPERRYLITE. FERROPLATINUM ALLOYS OCCUR AS INTERGROWTHS WITHIN THE BASE METAL SULFIDES.
