Comments on the production information

  • PRODUCTION PRIOR TO 1970: 5,576 OZ. OF GOLD AND 371 OZ. OF SILVER (USBMAFOC FILES). THE BEDROCK IS PRINCIPALLY QUARTZITIC SCHIST, WITH SOME CARBONACEOUS SCHIST AND GREENSTONES. SMALL BASALTIC DIKES WERE OBSERVED. THE GRAVELS ARE DERIVED FROM THE BEDROCK, EXCEPT IN THE LOWER PART OF THE STREAM WHERE THEY MIX WITH MOOSE CREEK BENCH GRAVELS (PP70) IN THE PAST THE GRAVELS WERE WORKED BY SHOVELING-IN OPEN CUTS. ALLEN CARROL 1975 OPERATED 966 FRONT-END LOADER W/4 YD BUCKET, SHAKER SCREEN, AND SLUICE PLATE. DONALD STONE ALSO WORKED EUREKA CR. IN 1975 USING HYDROLICS (CARNES & PP70). USGS CRIB A002259
