Comments on the reserve resource information

  • THIS DATA IS THE MOST RECENT PUBLISHED (1985) ESTIMATE OF THE RESERVES AT HERRERIAS, GUADIANA UNDERGROUND MINE. THE RESERVE ESTIMATE IS AS OF 1982. GRADE DATA IS BASED ON THE NUMERICAL AVERAGE OF AN AVERAGE ORE ANALYSIS. SEE THE "R" AND OTHER BIBLIOGRAPHIC REFERENCES. ACCORDING TO THE "R" REFERENCE: RESERVES WERE LISTED AS MEASURED; PROBABLE; AND POSSIBLE: WHICH FIT INTO THE R-MATRIX CATEGORIES OF; MEASURED; INDICATED; AND INFERRED.
  • STATUS OF THIS ORPEATION IS UNKNOWN AS OF OCT. 92. PROPERTY WAS TAKEN OFF ADIT. IF THIS OPERATION HAD BEEN PRODUCING, ITS RESERVES WOULD HAVE BEEN EXHAUSTED IN 1989, WITH THE CURRENT EVALUATION.
  • DATA IS THE ESTIMATE OF INSITU PYRITE ORE RESERVE/ RESOURCES FOR THE HERRERIAS UNDERGROUND MINE. THE TONNAGE ESTIMATE WAS USED IN THE PROPERTY EVALUATIONS. HOWEVER ONLY THE SULFUR GRADE OF THE PYRITE ORE WAS USED, SINCE A PYRTIE CONCENTRATE IS RECOVERED. GOLD AND SILVER ARE RECOVERED FROM THE PYRTIE CONCENTRATE AT THE ACID/ ROASTING PLANT. THE ARSENIC IS LISTED BECAUSE IT EFFECTS THE MARKABILITY OF THE PYRITE CONCENTRATE. EVERYTHING ELES GOES WITH THE TAILS.

Comments on other economic factors

  • THE COMBINED UNDERGROUND MINING METHODS ARE A ROOM AND PILLAR WITH FILL. THE FILL COMES FROM THE ABANDONED GUADIANA OPEN PIT. IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THIS OPEN PIT MAY BE REACTIVATED TO RECOVER 300,000 MT OF ORE LEFT IN SOME PILLARS FROM AN EARLIER UNDERGROUND OPERATION. NO DATE HAS BEEN SET FOR THIS REACTIVATION.
  • THE MILL CONSISTS OF A WASHING/CRUSHING/SCREENING PLANT AT THE MINE. THE PYRITE CONCENTRATE PRODUCT IS TRUCKED TO HUELVA, SPAIN, FOR DISTRIBUTION TO SULFURIC ACID PLANTS.

General comments

Subject category Comment text
Deposit THE MINING OPERATIONS REPRESENTED IN THIS DATA BASE LISTING ARE THE SANTA BARBARA COPPER LEACHING OPERATION, WHICH WAS NOT EVALUATED, AND THE TWO GUADIANA MINES. THE TWO GUADIANA MINES CONSIST OF AN ABANDONED OPEN CAST OPERATION NOW USED AS A FILL SUPPLIER FOR THE OPEN GUADIANA UNDERGROUND MINE, WHICH WAS EVALUATED AS A PRIMARY SOURCE OF SULFUR FROM A PYRTIE CONCENTRATE. A THIRD MINE, THE OPEN CAST SANTA BARBARA COPPER MINE, A COPPER LEACHING OPERATION, PRODUCING ABOUT 378 MT OF "COPPER SHELL" PER YEAR, WAS NOT EVALUATED.
