Comments on the geologic information

  • THE CARBONATE GANGUE IS GENERALLY CALCITE BUT SOME SIDERITE OR ANKERITE OCCURS WITH THE CALCITE. THE PRINCIPAL SULFIDE MINERAL IS PYRITE. SOME OF THE LAYERS OF VOLCANIC ROCK CONTAIN MORE SULFIDE THAN ADJACENT LAYERS SUGGESTING THAT THE PERMEABILITY OF THE ANDESITE WAS PROBABLY THE CONTROLLING FACTOR. IT IS BELIEVED THAT THE MINERALIZATION OCCURRED DURING OR SHORTLY AFTER THE EMPLACEMENT OF THE BATHOLITH AND THAT THE SPARSE DISSEMINATED SULFIDES ARE PNEUMATOLYTIC IN ORIGIN THE ASSAYS SHOW THAT COBALT OCCURS IN TRACE OR BETTER AMOUNT IN THE PYRITIZED ANDESITE. IT OCCURS AS COBALTIAN ARSENOPYRITE. COBALT ASSAYS RANGE FROM TRACE TO 1.41 PERCENT
  • MOST OF THE ROCK IN THE GENERAL AREA IS QUARTZ MONZONITE OF THE BOULDER BATHOLITH. SCATTERED THROUGHOUT THE QUARTZ MONZONITE ARE MASSES OF METAMORPHOSED CRETACEOUS (?) VOLCANIC ROCKS AND SOME OLDER SEDIMENTARY ROCKS WHICH ARE EITHER LARGE INCLUSIONS OR ROOF PENDANTS. UNCONFORMABLY OVERLYING BOTH THE QUARTZ MONZONITE AND THE OLDER METAMORPHOSED ROCKS ARE RHYOLITE FLOWS AND SOME INTERBEDDED SANDSTONE LENSES OF PROBABLY TERTIARY AGE. MINERAL DEPOSITS OCCUR AS DISSEMINATED GRAINS AND SMALL VEINLETS IN RANDOM DIRECTIONS IN CERTAIN LAYERS OF THE OLDER VOLACNIC ROCKS. NO TRUE VEINS WERE SEEN.

Deposit THIS PROPERTY CONTAINS ONLY SCATTERED DISSEMINATIONS OF SULFIDES, INCLUDING SOME ARSENOPYRITE CARRYING A LOW PERCENTAGE OF COBALT, IN INCLUSIONS OF META- ANDESITE IN THE BOULDER BATHOLITH. NO VEIN STRUCTURE OCCURS HERE.
