| Environmental Factors | THE WASHINGTON STATE DEPARMENT OF ECOLOGY ISSUED AN ENFORCEMENT ORDER TO THE USDA FOREST SERVICE FOR A CLEANUP ACTION PLAN (CAP) AT THIS SITE. THE CLEANUP OPTION SELECTED FROM THE PHASE II REMEDIAL INVESTIGATION IS TO PUT A CAP OF NATIVE SOILD AND LIME OVER THE PROCESSED ORE HEAP, LAND APPLICATION AREA, AND UNPROCESSED ORE HEAP. THE CAP WILL BE 1-1/2 FEET THICK AND WILL BE PLANTED WITH NATIVE GRASS. THE FOREST SERVICE WILL MONITOR THE CAP FOR EROSION, EFFECTIVENESS, WATER MOISTURE, AND GROUND WATER CONTAMINATION (SITE REGISTER, TOXICS CLEANUP PROGRAM, OCTOBER 11, 1994, P. 13). |
