  • FOLDING IN THE AREA IS SEVERE, SUCH THAT IN SOME AREAS, COMPLETE OVERTURNING HAS OCCURED.
  • ORE IS FOUND IN THE UPPER PORTION OF THE LA LUNA FORMATION WHICH IS A TYPICAL CHERT-LIMESTONE-BLACK SHALE SEQUENCE COMMON TO THE PHOSPHATIC BEDS OF THE TACHIRA CHERT.

  • AFTER THE ORE IS SORTED AND GROUND TO 200 MESH, IT IS BAGGED FOR DOMESTIC SALES ANS SALES IN COLUMBIA AS A DIRECT APPLICATION FERTILIZER.
  • IN 1961, SMALL SCALE ORE EXTRACTION BEGAN; THROUGH 1966 A TOTAL OF 2,800 MT HAD BEEN MINED. IN 1966 IT WASS REPORTED THAT A 100MTPD PLANT WAS UNDER CONSTRUCTION. THERE HAS BEEN NO REFERENCE TO ANY FURTHER EXPANSION IN RECENT YEARS AND OUTPUT IS NOW BELIEVED TO BE MINIMAL.
