Comments on the production information

  • ABOUT 40 PERCENT OF GOLD IS EXPORTED AS BARS, AND THE REMAINDER IS USED IN JEWELLERY MANUFACTURING. SILVER, PLATINUM, AND PALLADIUM ARE MAINLY FOR DOMESTIC USE. SELENIUM IS MAINLY FOR EXPORT. ALL BUT A SMALL AMOUNT OF EXPORTED COPPER IS CONSUMED DOMESTICALLY. COPPER IS REGISTERED ON THE LME ASSAYING 99.96 TO 99.99 PERCENT COPPER; GOLD IS 99.99 PERCENT IN 30 KILOGRAM BARS; SILVER IS 95.95 PERCENT IN 30 KILOGRAM BARS; SELENIUM IS 99.5 TO 99.9 PERCENT IN POWDER FORM; PLATINUM IS 96 PERCENT IN POWDERED FORM; AND PALLADIUM IS 99.95 PERCENT IN POWDERED FORM.
  • THE PRODUCTION RATES GIVEN IN THE PRODUCTION TABLE ARE THE SAME FOR THE YEARS 1984 THROUGH 1990, EXCEPT FOR GOLD. GOLD PRODUCTION FOR 1984 WAS 3.5 METRIC TONS; FOR 1985, 4.5 METRIC TONS; FOR 1986, 4.5 METRIC TONS; FOR 1987, 4.3 METRIC TONS; FOR 1988, 4.3 METRIC TONS; FOR 1989, 4.3 METRIC TONS; AND FOR 1990, 4.3 METRIC TONS. ALL THESE PRODUCTION RATES ARE ESTIMATED, AS ARE THE PRODUCTION RATES GIVEN IN THE PRODUCTION TABLE.
  • MILL FEED REPRESENTS AN ESTIMATED AMOUNT, IN METRIC TONS, OF CONCENTRATE AT 22 PERCENT GRADE. THIS AMOUNT DOES NOT INCLUDE SCRAP. OUTPUT DOES NOT INCLUDE COPPER FROM SCRAP, WHICH IS APPROCIMATELY 30,000 METRIC TONS PER YEAR.

Comments on the reserve resource information

  • CAPACITY STATED AS 165,000 TONS PER YEAR OF COPPER CATHODE. THIS PLANT ALSO TREATS SCRAP AND IMPORTED MATERIAL. DOMESTIC FEED ORIGINATES FROM BOR AND BUCIM MINE MINES. POLLUTION FROM THE SMELTER IS A SIGNIFICANT ISSUE.

Comments on the workings information

  • THE SMELTER HAS A SIGNIFICANT SULFUR DIOXIDE PROBLEM WHICH HAS HAD SIGNIFICANT ADVERSE ENVIRONMENTAL EFFECTS ON THE TOWN AND THE SURROUNDING AREA. THERE IS NO FUNDING FOR ANY PLANT MODIFICATIONS TO REDUCE THE POLLUTION.

Comments on other economic factors

  • IN 1988, RTB-BOR SUPPLIED 513,869 METRIC TONS OF CONCENTRATE ASSAYING APPROXIMATELY 22 PERCENT COPPER; THE BUCIM MINE CONTRIBUTED 49,611 METRIC TONS OF CONCENTRATE AT 22 PERCENT COPPEER, DOMESTIC SCRAP OF 12,340 METRIC TONS OF COPPER SCRAP AND 20,036 METRIC TONS OF COPPER CONTENT IN IMPORTED SCRAP.
