Comments on the production information

  • THE DONSKOY MINING COMPLEX HAS VIRTUALLY STOPPED DELIVERING CHROME ORE TO RUSSIAN FERRO-CHROME PRODUCERS BECAUSE THEY ARE UNABLE TO MEET PAYMENTS. COLLECTIVE DEBTS OWED BY THE ALLOY PRODUCERS NOW TOTAL 8 TO 9 MILLION ROUBLES. RUSSIAN FERRO-CHROUME PLANTS SUCH AS KLYUCHEVSKY AND CHELYABINSK DO NOT HAVE THE ROUBLES TO PAY DONSKOY.

Comments on the reserve resource information

  • THE RESERVE VALUES INDICATED IN THE SURFACE OPERATIONS DEPOSIT(4610320043) ARE FOR BOTH THE 40 YEARS DEPOSIT(MAIN SUR- FACE WORKING FACE) AND THE MOLODEZHNOE DEPOSIT(MAIN UNDERGROUND WORKING FACE). THE LATTER IS THE UNDERGROUND EXTENSION OF THE FORMER. THE PROVEN RESERVE VALUE IS 300,000,000 METRIC TONS.

Comments on other economic factors

  • THE ORE IS HAULED TO THE DRESSING PLANTS ONSITE. PRODUCTS FROM THE DRESSING PLANTS ARE THEN TRANSPORTED TO THE AKTYUBINSK FECR PLANT(4610321001) AT AKTYUBINSK.
  • THE ORE CUT-OFF GRADE IS 30% CR2O3; LOWER GRADE ORE IS STOCKPILED IN AN UNDERGROUND PIT. ORE HAULWAYS ARE 3.2M WIDE. THE ORE IS HAULED BY ELECTRIC LOCOMOTIVES; AN ORE TRAIN CONSISTS OF TEN WAGONS(4.5 CU-M, 8-10 MT PER WAGON). THE ORE IS CRUSHED AND SCREENED IN THE UNDERGROUND PIT. THE MAXIMUM SIZE OF THE ORE ENDS UP AS 400MM. THE HOST ROCK REQUIRES INSTALLATION OF STEEL ARCHES EVERY METER. GROUNDWATER IS A BIG PROBLEM. 250 CU-M PER SECOND IS PUMPED FROM THE MINE. FINAL CRUSHING TAKES PLACE ON THE SURFACE.

Deposit THIS SEQUENCE NO. REPRESENTS UNDERGROUND MINING AT THE DONSKOY COMPLEX. THE UNDERGROUND MINE CONSIST OF TWO WORKING FACES: MOLODYOZHNAYA AND TSENTRALJINAYA. IN ADDITION, A THIRD WORKING FACE, GLUBOKOE, IS BEING DEVELOPED. PRODUCTION OF THE MOLODYOZHNAYA DEPOSIT IS REPORTED TO BE 1.5 MMT PER YEAR. TOTAL PRODUCTION FOR THE DONSKOY COMPLEX WAS 3.7 MMT IN 1991. WHILE THE TOTAL PRODUCTION IS REPORTED TO BE INCREASED TO 4.0 MMT BY 1993, THE PRODUCTION RATE AT THE UNDERGROUND MINE IS NOT EXPECTED TO EXPAND BEYOND THE CURRENT CAPACITY OF 1.5 MMT PER YEAR.
