  • THE DEPOSIT IS A FOLDED STRATABOUND OREBODY IN ULTRABASIC AND BASIC HOST ROCKS. HOST ROCKS INCLUDE DUNITE AND HARZBURGITES. GANGUE MINERALS INCLUDE OLIVINE, SERPETINE, AND TALC. THE AGE OF THE HOST ROCK IS PALEOZOIC, WHICH HAS BEEN INTENSELY DEFORMED. C.R.U. REPORTS THAT BATER I AND II PRODUCE MOST OF THE ORE, WHILE MARTANESH PRODUCES A SMALLER PORTION.

  • 160,000 MTPY (AT ABOUT 28 % CR2O3) IS SENT TO ONSITE (BATRA) MILL (REFERRED TO AS THE KRASTRA MILL). 1992 ADIT DATA: BATRA MINE CAPACITY(ROM)=220,000 MTPY; PROD.=120,000 MT ROM RESERVE BASE GRADE = AVG. OF 16-40 PCT CR2O3 RANGE GIVEN. ALL INFORMATION BECAME AVAILABLE IN EARLY 1990 (AFTER NETFLOW MODEL BUILT). LOCATED 5-12 KM S OF CITY OF BULQUIZA IN THE MAT DISTRICT ON THE S. FLANK OF THE BULQUIZA MTN. RANGE. COORDINATES ARE OF THE TOWN OF GJON. AS OF 1988, 4 MINES PRODUCING 400,000 MTPY ROM AT 32 % CR2O3. OF THIS TONNAGE 110,000 MTPY (AT ABOUT 29 % CR2O3) SENT TO MILL AT BULQUIZA, 130,000 MTPY (AT 40 % CR2O3) IS EXPORTED, AND THE CHROMITE MINE AT BATRA, LOCATED NORTHEAST OF KRASTA, PRODUCES AROUND 100,000 TONS PER YEAR OF HIGH QUALITY CHROMITE. IN RECENT YEARS, PRODUCTION LEVELS HAVE SUFFERED AT THE EXPENSE OF PROVING UP FURTHER ORE RESERVES. DUE TO THE HIGH QUALITY OF BATRA CHROMITE, APPROXIMATELY HALF IS EXPORTED AS ORE, WITH THE REST CONCENTRATED IN THE KRASTA PROCESSING PLANT.
