  • PRODUCTS OF THE HORNI BENESOV MINE INCLUDE LEAD AND ZINC, WHICH ALSO INCLUDE GOLD AND SILVER. PRODUCTION AT THE HORNI BENESOV MINE FIRST TOOK PLACE DURING THE MIDDLE AGES. MODERN UNDERGROUND MINING STARTED IN 1949. THE HEAD GRADES OF THE ORES ARE .47 PERCENT LEAD AND 1.17 PERCENT ZINC FOR THE YEAR 1989. CONCENTRATE PRODUCTION FOR THE YEAR 1989 RESULTED IN 1,820 METRIC TONS OF LEAD CONCENTRATES AND 4,250 METRIC TONS OF ZINC CONCENTRATES. THE THE GRADES OF THE CONCENTRATES FOR THE YEAR 1989 ARE AS FOLLOWS: THE LEAD CONCENTRATES CONTAIN 50.2 PERCENT LEAD, 770 GRAMS PER TON OF SILVER, AND 5.8 GRAMS PER TON OF GOLD; AND THE ZINC CONCENTRATES CONTAIN 46 PERCENT ZINC, 115 GRAMS PER TON OF SILVER, AND .17 PERCENT CADMIUM. FLOTATION RECOVERY IS 72 PERCENT LEAD AND 82.9 PERCENT ZINC. THE 1992 MINING ANNUAL REVIEW ESTIMATES THAT ORE PRODUCTION FOR THE YEAR OF 1991 WAS 780,000 METRIC TONS OF LEAD/ZINC ORE FOR CZECHOSLOVAKIA.
