Comments on the production information

  • PRODUCTION AT KLOS BEGAN IN THE SIXTIES.

Comments on the reserve resource information

  • GRADE IS REPORTED TO BE BETWEEN 20 AND 30 PERCENT CR2O3 BY C.R.U.. AN AVERAGE OF 25 PERCENT WAS USED. C.R.U. REPORTED THAT RESERVES WERE 1.2 MILLION METRIC TONS AS OF 1991. MINING JOURNAL RESEARCH SERVICES REPORT THAT THE ORE GRADE RANGES FROM 38 TO 39 PERCENT CR2O3, AND THAT THIS MINE ALSO EXPLOITS AN ALUMINO-CHROMITE DEPOSIT, WITH A POTENTIAL ANNUAL PRODUCTION OF 30,000 TONS.
  • ALL INFORMATION BECAME AVAILABLE IN EARLY 1990. AFTER THE NETWORK FLOW MODEL WAS BUILT. IN 1988, 3 DEPOSITS BEING MINED, TOTAL OF 46,000 MTPY ROM AT 38-39 % CR2O3. THERE IS A NEW HEAVY MEDIA PLANT AT KLOS WHICH STARTED OPERATION IN OCT. 1988. THIS IS A LARGE PLANT (SUPPOSEDLY 750,000 MTPY ROM FOR 500-550,000 MTPY LUMP PRODUCTS AT 41-42 % CR2O3) WITH MOST OF PLANNED FEED COMING FROM A NEW BULQUIZA-KLOS ADIT TO BE COMPLETED BY 1993. BASED ON 1992 DATA: KLOS MINE ROM CAPACITY=35,000 MTPY;ROM PROD.=31,000 MT KLOS HM MILL ROM CAP.=500,000 MTPY;ROM=40,000 MT/PROD.=19,000 ADIT RESERVE BASE GRADE=AVG.OF REPORTED RANGE OF 20-42%CR2O3 FOR FUTURE, THIS SEQ.NO. WILL INCLUDE BOTH THE KLOS MINE AND THE KLOS BENEFICIATION PLANT.

Comments on other economic factors

  • THE ORE IS SCREENED AND HANDSORTED. SOME OF THE ORE IS CONCENTRATED BY THE HEAVY MEDIA SEPARATOR. THE KLOS DRESSING PLANT HAS A CAPACITY OF 750,000 METRIC TONS PER YEAR AND WAS COMMISSIONED IN 1988. THE PLANT TAKES FEED FROM KLOS, BULQIZE SOUTH, BATRA, AND TERNOVE MINES. DURING 1989, ORE FEED WAS SMALL. THE LUMPY ORE PRODUCED BY THE CONCENTRATOR HAS AN AVERAGE GRADE OF 42 PERCENT CR2O3. TOTAL OPERATING DAYS PER YEAR WERE ASSUMED TO BE 250. NEAR THE KLOSI OPERATIONS IS THE PROCESSING PLANT OF MAT WHERE THE PROCESS OF HEAVY LIQUID GRAVITY SEPARATION IS USED TO CONCENTRATE THE ORES PRIOR TO SMELTING AT BURREL OR ELBASAN.
