Deposit THE KOSAKA MINE CONSISTS OF THREE DEPOSITS, THE MOTOYAMA, THE UCHINOTAI, AND THE UNAMUKI. TE MOTOYAMA DEPOSIT WAS MINED OPEN PIT AND UNDERGROUND BEGINNING IN 1898 AND HAS BEEN MINED OUT TO A .3% COPPER CUTOFF. CURRENT MINING PRACTISE IS UNDERGROUND, BY A MODIFIED UNDERHAND CROSS CUT METHOD, IN THE UCHINOTAI AND UWAMUKI DEPOSITS ONLY. WHITE RHYOLITE OCCURS AS DOMES IN THE TUFF BRECCIA OF THE UPPER UWAMUKI AND SERVES AS THE SOURCE OF THE ORE DEPOSITS. THE ORES ARE TYPICAL OF THE NORTHERN JAPANESE KUROKO DEPOSITS. DIMENSIONS OF THE DEPOSITS ARE AS FOLLOWS: UCHINOTAI (WESTERN): 400 M LONG 380 M WIDE 95 M THICK UCHINOTAI (EASTERN): 450 M LONG 380 M WIDE 100 M THICK UWAMUKI (FIRST): 450 M LONG 100 M WIDE UWAMUKI (SECOND): 100 M LONG 100 M WIDE UWAMUKI (FOURTH); 300 M LONG 100 M WIDE 150 M THICK
