Comments on the reserve resource information

  • IN-SITU RESOURCE BASED ESSENTIALLY ON ONE DEPOSIT OUT OF 13 IN AN AREA OF 2X4 KM. IN-SITU DATA ARE 2,153 MT PROBABLE AND 3,200 MT INFERRED. GRADE IS 90% BASTNASITE AT 60% REO, OR 54% REO. MINEABLE DATA ARE BASED ON 30% DILUTION AND 90% RECOVERY. THUS, PROBABLE TONNAGE IS 60,069 MT, AND GRADE IS 2.90% BASTNASITE, EQUAL TO 1.74% REO.
  • ORE= 2153 PROBABLE + 3200 INFERRED. MINEABLE/RECOVERABLE= 60,000 MT AT 3.0% BASTNASITE (1.59% REO)
  • BASTNASITE (60% REO)

General comments

Subject category Comment text
Deposit THE AREA CONSISTS OF SEVEN IDENTIFIED DEPOSITS THAT BEEN MINED BY HAND METHODS INTERMITTENTLY SINCE 1948. ALL MINING WAS TERMINATED BY GOVERNMENT EDICT IN 1978, BECAUSE OF DISSATISFACTION WITH THE OPERATING COMPANY AND POLITICAL DISRUPTION IN TANZANIA THROUGH WHICH THE CONCENTRATES WERE SHIPPED. ONLY ONE DEPOSIT (GAKARA) HAS BEEN EXPLORED IN DETAIL. THE EXPLORATION APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN MAINLY ACADEMIC SINCE IT WAS EXTREMELY DETAILED ON AN EXTREMELY SMALL AREA, ONLY PROVING A LITTLE OVER 2,000 MT OF RESOURCES. IF MINING WERE RESUMED, IT WOULD PROBABLY BE BY HAND MINING HIGH GRADE BASTNESITE VEINS AS WAS DONE IN THE PAST, WHERE THE PRODUCTION OVER THE LAST 12 YEARS AVERAGED 300 MTPY.
