Comments on the geologic information

  • THE ORE BEARING ROCK IS ITABIRITE CONTAINING 30-38% FE. IT IS A LAMINATED, METAMORPHOSED ROCK OF SHISTOSE STRUCTURE CONSISTING OF A SEQUENCE OF GRANULAR QUARTZ AND THIN LAYERS OF IRON OXIDES; HEMATITE, MAGNETITE OR MARTITE. DUE TO TROPICAL WEATHERING CONDITIONS, THE MAGNETITE HAS BEEN OXIDIZED TO HEMATITE AND QUARTZ HAS BEEN GRADUALLY LEACHED AND WASHED OUT.
