  • A THIRD MINERAL PRESENT IS AN FE-MG CARBONATE (NAME UNKNOWN). NE OF NOUAKCHOTT. STATUS OF AKJOUJT:OP MINE+TORCO-PROCESS MILL OPENED 1971, CLOSED MID-1978 AFTER INCURRING LOSSES DURING ALL YEARS OF OPERATION.1977 RESULTS:590,175 MT ORE(ESTIMATE) AT 1.88%CU (ESTIMATED)TO PRODUCE 9,431 MT CU, 688 KG AU+982 KG AG-LOST$13,000,000. STUDY SUPPOSEDLY BEING MADE AT PRESENT TIME REGARDING MINE+MILL RENOVATIONS FOR TREATING SULPHIDE ORE.
