Comments on the location information

  • Political location in the record is Stevens county. Original coordinates are lat/long NAD27 N-48-55-5 (48.9181), W-118-12-8 (-118.2022); UTM Z11 N5418824 E411920; PLSS 40N 36E S35. Google Earth plots the original lat/long in Stevens county by only 80 meters, but the County100 coverage and MRDS test coverage plot it just inside Kerry county. The deposit is said to be a Pb prospect but GE shows it in the river. Recalculating the lat/long using the WGS84 datum moves the point to solid land, 235m N, well inside Stevens county. UTM coordinates were cleared. PLSS was left unchanged because it became correct with the datum change, moving from 39N 36E S2 NW of NE to the original PLSS coordinates 40N 36E S35 [SW of SE].
