  • UG MINING WILL COMMENCE IN 1992 AS OP RESERVES ARE DEPLETED.
  • CURRENT OWNERSHIP: COMPANHIA DE MINERACAO E PARTICIPACAOS (CMP) 70%, TVX 20%, DEGUSSA 10%. MINE STARTED UP ALLUVIAL MINING IN 1984. 1988 PRODUCTION WAS 65,900 OZ. IN OCT. 1988 A 100,000 MTPY AGITATION LEACH PLAN WAS COMMISSIONED TO TREAT PRIMARY ORE FROM THE OPEN PIT AND PLANS ARE TO INCREASE PRODUCTION TO 180,000 MTPY (EMJ/6-90, P. 22). THE UNDERLYING STRUCTURE HAS BEEN DRILLED TO A DEPTH OF 250 M AND IS OPEN AT DEPTH AND ALONG STRIKE. PRIMARY RESERVES ARE ESTIMATED AT OVER 18 MILLION MT.
