Comments on the geologic information

  • THE MANGANESE DEPOSIT AND ITS MINERALIZATION PROCESS ORIGINATED FROM CHEMICAL SEDIMENTS AND FROM A MARINE ENVIRONMENT. THE HOST ROCK TYPE IS MARL OF A LOWER JURASSIC PERIOD. THE MANGANESE DEPOSIT IS A STRATIFIED BED SIX TO EIGHT METERS THICK AND RANGING UP TO TWENTY METERS IN LENGTH. THE DEPOSIT IS NEARLY HORIZONTAL. CARBONATE SEDIMENTATION WAS FOLLOWED BY THE DEPOSITION OF ARGILLACEOUS ROCKS AND MANGANESE FORMATION. NODULAR MANGANESE ORES ARE FOUND WITH FERRUGINOUS CRUST AND INNER PARTS OF CHERT.

Comments on the production information

  • THE EPLENY MINE(S) IS REACHED BY RAIL 15 KILOMETERS NORTH OF VESZPREM. THE MINE(S) WERE DISCOVERED IN 1928 AND ARE PRESENTLY OWNED AND OPERATED BY THE HUNGARIAN GOVERNMENT. THERE ARE NO GEOLOGIC CONSTRAINTS ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE MINE(S) WITHIN ONE TO FIVE YEARS. THE OXIDE ORE CONTAINS 24.4 PERCENT MANGANESE WITH INTERBEDS OF WASTE, AND THE CARBONATE ORE CONTAINS 14 PERCENT MANGANESE.
  • THE INFORMATION GIVEN SO FAR IS ALL THAT WAS ECONOMICALLY OBTAINABLE AT THIS TIME. INFORMATION IN THIS REPORT WAS DISPLAYED IN THE YIELDS AND FEED TABLES WHICH WOULD LEAD THE READER INTO BELIEVING THAT A MILL IS IN EXISTANCE AND OPERATING. THIS MAY NOT BE TRUE, BUT THE INFORMATION ON GRADE PERCENTAGES WAS PROVIDED, SO IT WAS INSERTED WHERE IT WOULD NORMALLY GO IF THERE WAS AN ACTIVE MILL OR CONCENTRATOR.
