Deposit 8 SEPARATE BAUXITE DEPOSITS OCCUR OVER A NE-SW LENGTH OF 27 KM. DEPOSITS OCCUR AS CAPPINGS OF HILLS WHICH FORM A PROMINENT RANGE LOCATED ABOUT 64 KM W OF KUMASI. ACCORDING TO COOPER: WITH INTELLIGENT ATTENTION TO GRADE CONTROL (BY AVOIDING OR DISCARDING WHOLLY FERRUGINOUS AREAS) THE AL2O3 GRADE OF ORE CAN RUN 50,55,OR 60%. HILLS I,II,III & IV CALLED YENAHIN GROUP. HILLS V,VII & VIII CALLED THE MPEPASO GROUP. BAUXITE OCCURS AS LOCAL ENRICHMENTS IN REMNANTS OF HIGHLY- DISSECTED, LATERITE COVERED PLATEAU (UPPER BIRRMIAN AGE LAVAS AND PHYLLITES ARE SOURCE ROCKS). OVERBURDEN OF SOFT, RED SOIL & SOME RUBBLY SUBSOIL VARIES FROM 0-1.8 M THICK WHILE LATERITE CAPPINGS VARY FROM 6.1 TO 15.2 M THICK. AVG. BAUXITE THICKNESS WHERE STUDIED IS ABOUT 10 M. BAUXITE MOSTLY VERMICULAR, SOFT IN LOWER PORTIONS, HARD IN UPPER PORTIONS.
