Comments on the geologic information

  • THE GENERAL STRIKE OF THE IRON FORMATION IS N75-85E. IT DIPS STEEPLY AND IS TIGHTLY FOLDED. THE ITABARITES CONSIST OF FINE TO MEDIUM GRAINED FOLIATED MAGNETITE AND HEMATITE WITH ALTERNATING SILICA LAYERS. DUE TO LEACHING, THE BANDED IRONSTONES HAVE BEEN ENRICHED RESULTING IN THE FORMATION OF HEMATITE, LIMONITE AND GEOTHITE.
