Comments on the location information

  • The original lat/long DMS location N-41-25-14, W-114-26-41, is 2 degrees longitude west of the lat/long DD coordinates. The UTM coords agree with the DMS and place the site in California, whereas the DD, state-county, reporter affiliation, and reference place it in eastern Box Elder county, Utah. The PLSS coordinates are in western Box Elder county, Utah, about half way between the DD and DMS coords. The corresponding old_MRDS coords (10088394 N-41-26-23, W-113-43-40) agrees reasonably well with the TRS of both records. The old_MRDS record contains the relative position description of 1.1 MILES WEST OF MICROWAVE TOWER ALONG UTAH HIGHWAY 30. The HWY 30 description coincides with the old_MRDS DMS and DD location and matches visible workings in Google Earth. And 1.1 mi to the the east, some sort of access road and installation that could be a microwave tower is visible. So the old_MRDS location is the most credible. So to summarize, this record's DMS and UTM differed from DD, but all 3 were found to be incorrect. They were cleared and the DD from old_MRDS was imported.
