  • THE LATITUDE AND LONGITUDE BEARINGS ARE FOR THE TOWN OF SAN SALVADOR DE JUJUY. THERE ARE THREE MAIN ORE LOCATIONS THAT MAKE UP THIS DEPOSIT; PUESTO VIEJO, SIERRA DE ZAPLA AND CERRO LABRADO. THE IRON CONTENT VARIES BETWEEN 30 AND 38 PERCENT AT PUESTO VIEJO AND 33 TO 48 PERCENT AT THE 9 DE OCTUBRE MIN AT CERRO LABRADO, THE IRON CONTENT IS APPROXIMATELY 35 PE CENT THE RESERVES AT THE THREE SECTORS IS AS FOLLOWS. PUESTO VIEJO: MEASURED AND INDICATED RESERVES, 80 MILLION TONS; POTENTIAL RESOURCES, 20 MILLION TONS. SIERRA ZAPLA(9 DE OCTUBRE): MEASURED, INDICATED, AND INFERRED RESERVES, 8 MILLION TONS. CERRO LABRADO: INDICATED AND INFERRED RESERVES, 8 MILLION TONS. THE ORE IS PRIMARILY HEMATITE FORMED BY ALTERATION OF THURINGITE ORIGINALLY FORMED BY IMPREGNATION OF METAMORPHIC FERRUGINOUS SANDSTONES. ACCESSORY GOETHITE AND MAGNETITE IS ALSO PRESENT.
