Comments on the production information

  • OPERATIONS COMMENCED IN 1968 AND THE CONCENTRATOR WAS MODERNISED IN 1987. A PRIMARY JAW CRUSHER AND TWO STAGES OF CONE CRUSHING REDUCE THE RUN-OF-MINE ORE. THE ORE BENEFICIATION PROCESS INCLUDES A FLOTATION CIRCUIT CONSISTING OF A COPPER SECTION WITH ROUGHER, SCAVENGER, AND CLEANER CELLS, AND A PYRITE SECTION COMPRISING ROUGHERS AND SCAVENGERS. THE TAIL FROM THE FIRST COPPER CLEANER AND THE CONCENTRATE FROM THE COPPER SCAVENGER ARE RE-GROUND IN THE SECONDARY BALL MILL. THE TAIL FROM THE COPPER SCAVENGERS IS FED TO THE PYRITE ROUGHERS AND SCAVENGERS TO PRODUCE A PYRITE CONCENTRATE AND TAILINGS THAT ARE DISCARDED. TAILINGS ARE PUMPED TO A DAM ABOUT 1.5 KILOMETERS FROM THE CONCENTRATOR. THERE ARE REPORTED DIFFICULTIES WITH CLEANING THE OFF-GASES FROM THE CONCENTRATE DRIERS. IN 1989, THE COST PER METRIC TON MILLED WAS R4.86.

Comments on other economic factors

  • ALL ORE IS SUPPLIED BY THE URUP MINE, 14 KILOMETERS FROM THE PLANT. COPPER CONCENTRATE IS DELIVERED TO THE SREDNEURALSK SMELTER. PYRITE CONCENTRATE IS SUPPLIED TO THE ENTERPRISE OF CHEMICAL INDUSTRY.
