  • CHIMKENT LEAD SMELTER IS OPERATING AT 97 PERCENT OF CAPACITY AND IS EFFICIENTLY DEALING WITH POLLUTION PROBLEMS. IT IMPORTS LEAD SCRAP FROM EUROPE TO SECURE A SUPPLY OF RAW MATERIALS. IN 1993, IT RELIED UPON TOLLED CONC. FOR 20% OF ITS PRODUCTION.
